Be sure to post it digitally on your website and social media platforms, and on your physical storefront. American Express even offers customizable free signage and marketing materials to help you promote Small Business Saturday to your customers.
  • Collaborate with Other Small Businesses - Fin

d out who else in your community is hosting an event on Small Business Saturday and see if there’s room for you to collaborate. Start by seeing what local businesses within walking distance are participating and then start reaching out to others in the community. If you have a physical store, consider handing out a cup of coffee or creating an experience with live music and a hot chocolate bar. If you’re based online, consider giving away a free coupon or gift with purchase. No matter how big or small, the gesture will be appreciated. It also leaves a lasting impression if it’s something customers can take home and use. Don’t go too far into throwing your logo on cups and koozies, this should be a genuine gesture.

7 Last-Minute Ideas for a Successful Small Business Saturday

It’s almost that time of the year for small businesses to thrive - if the right marketing strategies are in place, of course. The holidays are here and so are all the events created to boost business in all aspects. From Cyber Monday to Small Business Saturday, anyone can ramp up customer engagement and sales by getting involved in these events. Here’s a little look into how and why you should take part in one in particular: Small Business Saturday.

  • What is Small Business Saturday? - Small Business Saturday is the one day set aside every year to support and spread awareness of small business across the entire United States. This event was created by American Express back in 2010 and is meant to be celebrated on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. You’ll always find it right after Black Friday and before Cyber Monday. It encourages consumers to get out and shop at their local businesses, especially since it’s in the middle of the holidays.
  • Run a Giveaway - A great way to create hype around your event is to run a giveaway. Everyone loves winning free prizes and gifts, so this will give consumers a little extra incentive to support your business on Small Business Saturday.
  • Post Signage (Digitally + Physically) - It’s important to remind your customers about Small Business Saturday by putting up promotional signage. Be sure to post it digitally on your website and social media platforms, and on your physical storefront.
  • Alert the Media - Another great way to get the word out about your event is by sending a press release to your local media outlets. Make a list of influencers, journalists, and bloggers in your area who would be interested in your event. Then, strategize a campaign. How will you reach out to these individuals? What benefits does this news bring for them? Is there an exclusive offering you can share with them and their audiences?

  • There’s a lot that goes into a public relations campaign, so if it’s not something you have the bandwidth to execute, consider outsourcing to a local public relations firm. After all, you’d still be supporting a small business!

We hope you have a joyous and successful Small Business Saturday!

How Kindness Goes a Long Way for Entrepreneurs

When you think about the word ‘entrepreneur’, qualities like leadership, fierceness, and hard-working might come to mind. But what about the quality of kindness?

The theme of collaboration over competition has surfaced over the years changing the way entrepreneurs do business. This shift is caused by major changes in the industry like the fact that women have grown to represent over 42 percent of all American businesses with over 250 million women entrepreneurs worldwide. And psychologically, women report experiencing more compassion in their lives than men report doing. So, it’s time to change the way we think about business.

Amazing things happen when entrepreneurs shift from a self-centered, aggressive approach and choose to be sympathetic and have compassion in business. In honor of World Kindness Day, we decided to dive into how kindness goes a long way for entrepreneurs.

  • Kindness leads to success - Taking the previous points into consideration, kindness leads to success within your business and personal life. You are creating genuine connections that last longer than a simple business deal. This becomes the community that supports you and cheers you on through the hardships and celebrations.
  • Kindness helps everyone’s health - Being kind can improve anyone’s mental and physical health. If you’ve ever had a job experience where your boss or colleague took a toll on your stress levels, you’ll know how important it is to be compassionate. If the people you work with are feeling anxious or overwhelmed, it can hurt business because they lack motivation and a sense of fulfillment. Stress also leads to negative health effects like heart disease and higher blood pressure. When a work environment starts impacting health in such ways, many people are quick to leave and find new jobs in more company culture-centered places.

Mindfulness Tips for Entrepreneurs During the Holidays

The holidays are here! It may look a little different this year due to the pandemic, but that doesn’t stop the busy season of business from booming. With all this cheer and excitement going on around the world, some of you might be wondering how you are going to get everything you need to get done before it’s time to enjoy the holidays yourself.

As an entrepreneur, chances are you struggle to take time off because if you don’t work then neither does the business, right? Wrong. Sure, your professional lifestyle may call for you to answer calls and emails asap, but that doesn’t mean you can’t squeeze in some time to allow yourself to recharge. Fortunately, it’s that time of the year where many businesses and entrepreneurs take vacations and breaks for the holidays (it’s practically the one time of the year when it’s easy to sneak in some guilt-free time off).

We’re here to help you create a plan and map out what you need to do in order to free up time to relax and spend time with loved ones during the holidays.

  • Set Your Goals - Since there are less than two months left in the year, it’s a good time to reassess your goals for Q4 and the year as a whole. Are you on track to accomplishing everything you set out for? What do you absolutely need to achieve before the end of the year? Take some time to prioritize what needs to be done immediately and what can wait till the next year or quarter. Then, create a schedule for the time you have left.
  • Give A Heads Up to Clients, Colleagues, and Customers - Many people are taking time off, so don’t guilt-trip yourself into feeling like you have to keep working. Between Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years, you’re bound to receive many away emails and hear back from others when they get back from vacation. However, the key here is to give your clients, colleagues, and customers a heads up that you’ll be gone for a certain period of time.
  • Delegate Workload - The best way to ensure that your business is still functioning efficiently is to put systems in place. Delegate as much work as possible to you and your team members. Create timelines and establish due dates for any projects being worked on during the holidays so everyone is on the same page. Your team members will most likely be looking forward to time off, so be mindful of how you’re preparing them to be able to get their work done but also spend time away.
