8 Tips for Dealing With Conflict Management In The Workplace

In a work environment, it is normal, to some extent, for conflicts to occur.

After all, employees generally have very different values and personalities. On the one hand, this difference can be enriching. On the other hand, the constant presence of friction can hinder corporate life.

Dealing with these differences is a complex task, as it involves personal aspects, the organizational context, and several other variables. However, managers must seek, as soon as possible, to resolve the conflict, as poorly resolved friction can bring numerous problems to the company. Fall in the quality of work, inefficiency in customer service, negative organizational climate, rivalries, and disputes are just some examples.

So, how to find good strategies for conflict management in the company? To that end, we have common methods that a company that develops systems for HR management have prepared a list of tips to help you deal correctly with conflict management in the workplace:

1. Investigate deeper causes

It is very common for a small conflict to have some minor cause behind it, linked to another factor. Therefore, it is very important to listen to all parties involved, seeking to extract the real reasons for the problem.

Listen carefully, without interruptions, warnings or criticisms. Leave it to intervene when you already have a global sense of the issue. Be aware of contradictions, similarities, and differences in point of view. With this, you will have more tools to understand the causes of the divergence.

2. Maintain accountability for conflicts

This is a posture of accountability and commitment on the part of the professional. It is essential when conflicts arise in the enterprise since your position as a manager should be that of a facilitator, not a problem solver. Those involved must find alternatives.

When you only offer conditions for effective dialogue to take place, you allow employees to access their internal resources to find ways out. This experience allows professionals to grow and have autonomy.

3. Encourage direct feedback

The great differential of feedback is that it has the purpose of helping others to develop. It is a return on some posture or the performance of tasks and can be both positive and negative. But, it is important to emphasize that feedback should always be made with a constructive proposal, intending to drive the other towards growth.

Direct feedback can help both resolve and avoid team conflicts. Clear communication minimizes communication gaps, as the employee will be able to get in touch with the colleague's ideas much more easily.

Frustrated with Funnels? Focus on Your Message First

If you own a business and are trying to attract leads and sales online, you’re probably familiar with funnels. Funnels come with a big promise to take your business to the next level by automating your marketing and sales. There’s no shortage of marketing and funnel experts promoting specific funnel systems, templates and scripts that have all worked for someone else, but will they work for you?

With so much hype and big promises, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed and confused as you try to find a funnel that fits your business. If you’re like many coaches and consultants, you’ve likely tried to leverage the power of a funnel in your business, but maybe it didn’t feel right, didn’t seem to fit your business or your voice and it didn’t work.

But funnels DO work...and they can work for your business.

To show you how, we need to take a step back and look at the core of what we’re trying to accomplish with our funnels.

The Truth About Funnels

Funnels are a powerful tool that we can use to market and sell our products and services. They’re not magical, they’re just the way we’re strategically communicating with our ideal clients. If what you’re communicating isn’t on target, it doesn’t matter which funnel you use to do it.

Remember that successful marketing is about putting the right message in front of the right person at the right time.

You’re thoughtfully crafting a conversation with your ideal client. Whether that conversation happens in a store, in an elevator, over lunch or coffee, through an online funnel, or in some weird exchange of carrier pigeons, at each step along the path toward the sale, your messaging needs to fit.

The Customer Conversation

From start to finish, there are six phases in a typical sales conversation. Each phase has a specific goal, moving the prospect along the sales path while cultivating our relationship with them. When our ideal prospect doesn’t take the next step along our sales path, it’s likely that we’ve misstepped in the conversation. Maybe we’ve “rushed the relationship” by asking for too much too soon, or we didn’t build enough rapport or trust. We didn’t educate, or we didn’t show enough evidence or proof that we can help them achieve the result they’re looking for.

Before you worry about which funnel you’ll use to attract leads and sales for your business, take the time to map out these six phases of your customer conversation to make sure your messaging makes sense.

1. Kickoff

Just like you would do in real life, you need to kick off a conversation with your ideal prospect. The goal of this phase is to break through the digital noise and grab the attention of our prospects with a message that is relevant and compelling.

How you start this conversation depends on where your prospective buyer is starting from. What is your ideal prospect already looking for? Do they know who you are and what you do, or are they a complete stranger? What messages have they heard before and might be starting to tune out?

Short attention spans and increased skepticism have changed how we start these conversations online. Whether you’re using an advertisement, social media post, email or some other communication channel, we want your ideal prospect to think, “Oh, this is different”, “This is what I’m looking for”, “This is what I need” or “What’s this? I want to know more”.

Think about how you start your conversation with your ideal client. What are you assuming your ideal prospect already knows, is familiar with, or has tried before in order for your initial message to resonate?

Diary of My First eWN ICON

When I started with eWomenNetwork a mere six weeks before conference, I was told that ICON 2021 would be our Super Bowl.  Now I don’t know much about sports, but I do know that breaking in a new player weeks before the big game, is a move most coaches wouldn’t be thrilled about, but the whole team was nothing but supportive, patient, and encouraging.

I knew the days would be long (but rewarding), and I’d finally get a chance to see many of the lovely faces I’d met over zoom in person.  And so I packed up my dog and sent him to stay with my Mother for the week, while I checked into the Embassy Suites, in a room bigger than my apartment.

In a way it was peculiar to be at a live event again.  All the jobs I‘ve had before this one have been rooted heavily in large-scale events, and for a while, as we all navigated the solitary, screen driven, hug-free isolation of 2020, it seemed like we’d never be able to attend one again. And yet, over 300 of us made it.

WEDNESDAY STATS:

Steps: 12,087

Speakers Seen: 9

Hugs: 3

WEDNESDAY TAKEAWAYS:

  • I may be a millennial, but I am not Instagram savvy. I’m glad I wasn’t alone in being behind the times in my knowledge of Instagram Reels.

  • Before Kate Paine gave us a look at the before and afters of Sandra and Kym’s LinkedIn pages, I had no idea there were so many features I wasn’t utilizing. I thought my LinkedIn was pretty good, but it just goes to show that sometimes you just need an expert. Also, that blue dress was sensational.

  • Can we just talk about Sam Horn for a second? What a speaker.  Her voice is so soothing and yet her content is so electric! Her Pre-Con talk was so good, I took pictures of the slides.  I didn’t have the pleasure of seeing her talk on Friday night, but I’m told she shut the place down!

  • The Smart Money Talk was a delight.  I had it in my head that men and women who specialize in finance are boring, simply because I myself am not a finance person and the subject tends to go over my head.  I was so WRONG! In addition to being experts in their field, Deborah Daniel and Robin Edgar were engaging and hilarious!

THURSDAY STATS:

Steps: 19,815

Number of Blisters: 1

Hugs: 4

THURSDAY TAKEAWAYS:

  • I’ve had the pleasure of working with Sandra for six weeks, and while I’ve seen her speak on camera as I sat in on some of the video editing process, no camera can do her stage presence justice.

  •  I finally got to poke my head into the Platinum Lounge and OMG.  How gorgeous.  The conference team did an extraordinary job.  I like to think Margie Samuels would have totally dug the Maker’s Mark presence in such a glam room.

  •  The Femtor Awards are one heck of a production! The lights, the music the videos- WOW! I was not expecting the scale of the Femtor Awards to be so epic. Congratulations to the incredible women who were recognized from all over the country.

FRIDAY STATS:

Steps: 14,848

Number of Drum Café Videos I sent to my Mom: 5

Hugs: I lost count

FRIDAY TAKEAWAYS:

  • While I didn’t get to fully participate because I was working backstage, the Drum Café experience was LIT!

  •  The giveaways at ICON are impressive!  I was jealous of all the attendees who got to enter and SO excited every time I heard a name I recognized win!

  •  Mainstage Showcase was equally awesome.  Aside from the interesting, diversified content, I can’t wait to see those Vogue shots come through!  I wore all black to conference which is a little boring, but the Mainstage ladies brought their A-game. Cathy Reilly in the blue dress with the cape and Natalie Clayton in the pink jumpsuit really popped with the Tiffany blue background onstage!

6 Ways to Kickstart Your Week Right

Mondayitis is the feeling of weariness and general distress that individuals feel when starting Monday morning work week. It’s typically expected to follow the excitement of the weekend as the ‘non-workdays’ seem to come slow and leave fast. Before you know it, you’re waking up to the sound of your alarm before the sun rises to a new week. You suddenly stop and realize you haven’t completed the tasks you had on your to-do list and now it’s growing even longer.

For many of us, this can be overwhelming and difficult to conquer at the beginning of the week. We have great news - it doesn’t have to be. We’re back with our Digital Advantage team to give you six simple and effective ways to kickstart your week off right. No more manic Monday’s...who’s with us?

1. Set Your Weekly Goals

These can be related to your work- and day-to-day life. Whether it’s following a bedtime, prepping your meals or enforcing deadlines on specific projects, setting realistic goals for yourself is a great way to get out of your comfort zone and practice self-control. These skills will also help you become a more productive and well-rounded individual as you learn to master them.

It’s just as important to keep a list of your completed goals, as well. Reward yourself no matter how small the accomplishment is - progress is progress. Plus, this will help give you something to look forward to and that’s motivation in itself. Make a candlelit bath, a new book, or a Netflix binge night an incentive. These simple, yet impactful moments of self-love will not only give you a confidence boost, but will help rejuvenate and prevent negative thoughts like self-doubt.

2. Find Inspiration Around Every Corner

You come across a lot of stimulants throughout your day whether you realize it or not. The key is to take advantage of these things and transmute them into motivation. This will result in the right mindset of focusing on the positive influences around you.

It’s as easy as turning on your favorite podcast, watching YouTube videos of relatable people offering daily affirmations or listening to your favorite Spotify playlist that gets you going. Another great way to get inspired, if you have more time on your hands, are Ted Talks. These influential videos not only motivate through storytelling, but offer advice on various issues like business, health and lifestyle, finances, and relationships.

3. Maintain a Positive and Optimistic Mindset

This may be one of the most important factors to start your week off on the right foot. Going into the new week with a positive and optimistic mindset can affect your productivity and efficiency. What you think, you become. We’re human, so it’s completely normal to experience dark clouds, but keep in mind they will pass. Focus on the good things surrounding you and watch how that energy radiates.

Practice this every morning by creating a mantra you can recite. Remember, while you’re reciting this put all your intentions into it. If you don’t have the capacity to do so yet, try waking up to meditation music, stretching and avoid touching your phone at all costs.

The Power of Podcasting: Boost Your Reputation and SEO Rank

As business owners, we’re always looking for fresh new ways to promote our business. We have this great product/service so it’s reasonable to want to share that with as many people as possible! However, especially in a saturated industry, how do we ensure that we are reaching a new audience?

Technology is always changing so keeping up with the latest trends in technology is a great way to start! Podcasting, for example, has been a force that has taken over the internet. This SEO tactic is a convenient, intimate and engaging format so it’s no wonder 58% of listeners spend one to 5 hours listening to podcasts per week!

You might be wondering if a podcast is right for your business. After all, if you’re going to invest valuable resources and time into making one, you want to make sure that you truly reach a new audience! So what’s the big deal with podcasting? And how can it help elevate your brand?

Convenience

One of the most appealing parts of podcasts is their convenience. According to a report, more than 60% of people listen to podcasts at home or while in the car. People are busy and podcasts can be easily intertwined into their lives without disrupting them. The pure audio component makes it possible for people to consume your content even while they drive, workout, cook, etc. After all, reading an article or watching a video isn’t necessarily the best idea while driving. Another appealing aspect of podcasts? They come in a variety of lengths. You only have 5 minutes during lunch or maybe it’s Sunday and you have an hour? There’s a podcast for that!

Intimate

Podcasts are more intimate than other modes of communication and give people another way to engage with you. Ideally, listeners will connect with the podcast host and will continue to come back regularly to listen to your podcast. Through the stories you tell and the conversations you have, your audience is more likely to relate to your brand. You are able to build stronger relationships with your audience because you’ve introduced a human element to your brand. In addition, the presence of audio allows you to have more control over the interpretation of the subjects and stories you dive into. With text, a reader can interpret the tone of a sentence differently than you intended. Podcasts are great because the audio component allows people to clearly hear the emotion behind your words.

4 Reasons Why Having A Community Is Important

It can feel isolating as an entrepreneur and business owner. While we are seemingly more connected than ever thanks to social media, our focus has become increasingly targeted towards increasing the number of connections we have as opposed to the quality of the connections we make. Couple that with the intense pressures of running a business around the clock, staying up to date with industry trends, networking and so much more, it can feel like you are burning out all alone. This is where belonging to a community comes in.

Community is more than just the physical area that you might reside in, or where your business is located. Community is the joining of like-minded individuals who can provide a system of support and a sense of belonging. Joining a community is vital to not only our business lives but our personal ones as well. Communities can provide sanctuary in a way that our personal relationships might not be able too. Read on as we give four reasons why having a community is important to your business success.

  1. Provides a system of support

Having a team around you that motivates and encourages you is vital to the success of an individual or organization. A well put together community surrounds you with like-minded people who are not only driven, but excited for your goals. Whether this community is directly impacted by your business or not, your success becomes their success. They desire to see you succeed, to support and push you towards your goals.

You also have the support of people who understand exactly what you’re going through. These are people who understand the long nights and tireless hours it takes to run a business. They understand the challenges that you face, but also, the passion and joy that happens when you achieve something that you have dreamed about. Community helps to feed the desire that we belong to something. It can help you grow and nurture together.

  1. Builds rapport and trust with others

A community can help establish credibility and trust within the industry as well as with customers. The higher your credibility is, the more rapport you can build with your customers and bring more value to the customer experience. You are then able to turn customers into brand advocates who support and share your products and brand with others. You’re able to create a forum for feedback about your products and services, and organically increase word of mouth.

Within your industry, a community can provide connections that can come back as referrals, share your experiences and pool your resources together. These connections can, in turn, open doors and add desirability to the brand. When you have built rapport within the industry, the brand’s image and voice can become personalized. This will also increase your brand visibility.

  1. Gives feedback from different perspectives

It can be difficult when you are faced with a challenge or situation to know how to solve it by yourself. A community can provide much-needed feedback on how to handle an issue with a perspective that might be different from your own. When someone can look at something with a fresh set of eyes, you might find solutions you wouldn’t have initially thought of. Being able to hear the perspectives of those who might have dealt with a similar issue, and how they were able to overcome the problem. Most importantly, you get feedback without fear of judgment. Being able to bounce new ideas or approaches on each other without worrying if those in your community are going to judge you for it.
