Especially for women-owned businesses, understanding the psychology of color is vital in creating a powerful brand presence. So let's deep-dive into this vibrant world and discover how to use color to your advantage.

What is Color Psychology?

Color psychology refers to the study of hues as a determinant of human behavior. Essentially, different colors can evoke different emotions, and these emotional responses can be harnessed for impactful marketing strategies.

Why is Color Psychology Important?

Did you know that color accounts for 60% of the decision to buy or not buy a particular product? Given its influence on purchasing decisions, color psychology is a must-know subject for any women-owned business engaged in marketing.

Leaders in the Field

When it comes to leveraging the psychology of color, experts like Joe Hallock, renowned for his work in "Colour Assignments," and Pantone, the global authority on color, offer insightful data-driven perspectives on how color influences consumer behavior.

5 Self-Care Strategies for Busy Entrepreneurs

At eWomenNetwork, we are all about taking time for self-care because your business only functions as well as you do. You can’t function correctly if you are stressed out. Researchers have suggested that entrepreneurs have more mood swings and a loss of motivation due to a certain character trait. Entrepreneurs are so busy wearing many different hats that they often forget to take a much-needed step back, so it is very important to practice self-care. Even the most successful entrepreneurs know you have to carve out time for yourself.

What is Self-Care?

Let us clear up one thing: self-care does not mean you are being selfish. Self-care is a term used to describe one's actions of staying healthy, both mentally and physically, by doing activities that make you feel good. In the past few years, this definition has expanded into activities such as pampering yourself, focusing on emotional needs, and personal growth. It’s time to start managing your health and well-being starting with self-care. Here are our team’s five self-care activities for busy entrepreneurs.

1. Get Moving

Try to exercise every single day, even for a little bit - it’s a great stress reliever. Staying active forces you to apply yourself mentally and physically. A simple walk around your office, or a few jumping jacks, when you’re feeling overwhelmed can help you get out of your head. Simply walking around can help you disconnect from work which helps you in your after-work hours. No longer laying awake thinking about work and helps you to be more present at home.

2. Create A Workspace You Love

You spend the majority of your time in your office, so be mindful of that when decorating. Your workspace can motivate you or cause more distractions. Clutter on your desk needs to be cleared before you head home, so you can start your next day fresh. Some affirmation wall decor definitely wouldn’t hurt to put up in your space as that can help you feel more confident. Less can actually be more productive, make sure your workspace flows and makes you feel good being in there.

3. Make Time to Do Other Things That You Love

Everyone needs a break from work to blow off steam and do something that they enjoy. It’s called me-time for a reason so do with it what you want and when you want to. If you want to read every night before bed, then do it. If you want to exercise every morning before work, then do it. Even getting your nails done monthly, go do it. Make time for all the things you love doing and actually do it. Find ways every night to unwind from work, that will help you not feel burnt out. No more excuses.

4. Treat Yourself

This phrase can mean many different things to people. For some, this means buying yourself something, big or small. For others, it means taking time for yourself to read, write, paint, take a bath, or catch up on your favorite shows. Either way, allow yourself to be rewarded for all your hard work. Give yourself the recognition you deserve because you do work incredibly hard. Doing something fun that you enjoy helps give your mind a break so you can be more creative and energized when you have to get back to work.

What to Wear to the Annual eWN ICON

We are less than a week away from eWomenNetwork’s 2021 ICON, so it’s crunch time to find yourself some iconic outfits. Our conference will have you moving around quite a bit, engaging and interacting with others, so dress for comfort. However, keep in mind any activities you will participate in and dress accordingly for them. If you don’t know what you’re wearing to ICON yet, don’t worry, our digital advantage team has curated fashion tips specifically for our event.

Why does what you wear to a conference even matter?

When most people think of preparing for an event, you probably think of practicing speeches or possibly the event setup. However, there is so much more that goes into an event preparation, such as what you are wearing, especially if you’re a speaker. Confidence is going to be the best part of any outfit you wear. If you look good, you feel good, if you feel confident, then you will perform well, and will translate well to the audience.

Masks

eWomenNetwork’s ICON Conference will be following the protocols outlined by the CDC, our hosting Hotel, Embassy Suites a Hilton Property, and the City and State’s rules and guidelines, in order to provide our members with a safe and comfortable environment for our 20th Anniversary ICON Conference. We are also socially distancing in our ballrooms and encouraging mask-wearing.

Shoes

Being at a conference can make for a long day if you’re in comfortable shoes. Closed-toe shoes, sandals, and flats are great options because they are neither extremely dressy nor casual and can be dressed up or down depending on the rest of your outfit.

Color Theory for Conferences

Knowing the environment that you will be presenting in, is very important, so you know what colors to wear that will pop on stage and translate well on camera. Wear colors that contrast with the background you will be standing in front of, but keep in mind that the background can affect the color you are wearing. Colors that are in front of a dark background will appear less intense, compared to bright backgrounds they will make your outfit seem brighter.

Jewel tones, such as purple, emerald green, or sapphire blue are very saturated colors, so they always show up great on stage and on camera, and work with a wide variety of skin tones. Sunset tones, such as yellow to red, have issues showing up well on camera as they create high contrast edges around them, aka halos. For best results, keep in mind the background that will be at the event as well as what looks best on you.

7 Tips For Achieving A Millionaire Mindset As An Entrepreneur

Your mindset is the most important factor in determining whether or not you will succeed in your life. In today’s day and age, it can be easy to lose sight of your goals and the life you envisioned for yourself, that’s why it’s critical to cultivate a “millionaire mindset”. Developing a millionaire mindset requires you to stretch your thinking. So, we’re sharing some of our favorite mindfulness tips to get you there.

Why is a millionaire mindset so important for entrepreneurs?

Many of the best entrepreneurs know exactly where they’re going, how they’re going to get there, and their why behind it all. Business owners that have a “millionaire mindset” have a “now” mentality, instead of procrastinating the very tasks that will get them where they want to. Knowing your “why” and being a “now” kind of person will push you in the right direction of achieving a millionaire mindset. Millionaire business owners have a very clear vision of the impact and legacy they are building.

1. Ask For Help When You Need It

You don’t have to know everything. For example, if you’re an entrepreneur waiting for the right tools to be handed to you before starting a project, you’re going to be waiting for a long time. You must move from this way of thinking into one that can start any project with the tools that are available at the moment. It is perfectly fine to be a work in progress. The more confidence you have, the more that will motivate you to take action which leads to more results, and expansion.

2. Believe In Yourself

So many people are too timid to admit they want something and actually take the action to do it. You need to become more assertive and honest with yourself, but you also need to believe that you can accomplish anything you set your mind to. But, remember it is not your job to reinvent the wheel, you just need to identify the issue and work towards solving it. That’s why it’s so important to develop the millionaire mindset. Entrepreneurs with millionaire mindsets play to win, not to avoid defeat.

3. Understand Failure Is Necessary For Success

It’s almost impossible to achieve anything if you don’t set any goals for yourself. By setting attainable goals, you can reach success more effectively, instead of as quickly as possible. Even failure reap benefits that will serve you in the future. Once you begin putting yourself out there to help others, you will see benefits and open a lot of doors for yourself.

PLATINUM Summit 2022

The 9th Annual PLATINUM Summit took place at the Balboa Bay Resort in Newport Beach, CA. It was an event to remember. Let's hear what people are saying!

"OMG. All I can say about my first PLATINUM Summit is "WHY WAS THIS MY FIRST PLATINUM SUMMIT?" Sandra has been speaking on behalf of women entrepreneurs before it was the IT THING. This community is everything to a woman entrepreneur or a woman looking to become an entrepreneur. Not only is she a master at connecting and growing a business, she has surrounded herself with like-minded women. The support I received at my first summit was more than I could have ever imagined. Not only did I get ideas on my current business, I now have jumped into another project and invested in another business. I got back four days ago. My outlook changed my first day back at the office, I was lighter, more focused and more goal oriented than I have been in a long time. I am honored to be a PLATINUM member and be a part of this brilliant community."

-Amanda Rawls

"Sandra pours into us so much and she always comes up with new content that is timely and useable!! Plus the sisterhood of the attendees...you feel so welcome and so loved! It amazes me how everyone wants to lift others around them to new heights!" – Tami McDonald

"This Platinum experience in 2022 was my favorite eWomenNetwork event to date! The heartfelt connections of like-minded individuals offered a space of belonging and growth." – Christina Dyer

"Attending a Platinum conference is unlike any other conference I've ever attended. The access to Sandra, Kym and Briana - and their brilliance - is the energy and inspiration I need. And when I get home, with my lists of ideas, the thing that always stands out are the people I had connected with, and the creativity that is sparked by being in the room of such awesome, inspiring women." – Donna Galassi

The eWomenNetwork Origin Story

S: I moved from Dayton Ohio which I thought was “the Big D”. I just had no perspective. I mean honestly, I just could not believe the size of this city. I would go to networking events that were primarily men, and everyone was very kind to me, I had no issues with that. But I just didn’t feel like anybody was including me or inviting me to really play, I felt relegated. And so, then I started going to women’s organizations, this was 1999, and I just felt like, you know I had little kids too- I’m open to talking about kids and the ridiculous price of parking and the traffic or whatever, but I was like “when are we going to start talking about business?” and I can still remember being downtown and being at a table and trying to direct the conversation off of the small talk and into business and I really felt this energy of being put off like “who are you?”. I remember coming home and talking to Kym about it and he’s really the one who said “well, you should start your own”, you know just get real intentional about what you want, but it was really Kym’s idea, right there he saw it, I didn’t, I was too close to it.

And then I just started being the Managing Director, going out and doing meetings anywhere I could, I had a girlfriend who did my hair, Susie and asked her if I could use her hair studio in off hours. I called people, I went to Sam’s Club and bought little pieces of cheese and those God-awful toothpicks with cellophane at the end. And you know, Nicole, I saved and washed those toothpicks. I rolled in a little cooler of water bottles and schlepped a portable flip chart. We literally sat in those chairs that back into the bowls where they wash your hair.

In many ways it was way harder than I could have ever imagined and I’m glad I didn’t know. I think there’s something to be said for the bliss of ignorance. Because I do think, in total transparency, if I would’ve known everything that I was going to go through in those first four or five years, I think I would’ve chosen a different path.

S: I think we thought that it would have multiple chapters, I can’t say that I imagined it being the way it turned out, I mean multiple chapters could be in Dallas, that kind of thing. I didn’t have the ability to dream that big, you know, I wasn’t being coached in the very beginning. And I certainly didn’t have a pedigree to come from people who achieved great things. I mean, Kym saw it, from the perspective that he was a musician and had the experience of Capitol Records and that kind of thing, but even then, we both knew that that required infrastructure.

7 Ways to Adopt a CEO Mindset

Dress for the job you want, not the job you have.

Visualize your success.

Focus on the endgame.

There are a million mantras out there for both established CEOs and budding CEOs. But to be a successful CEO, you need more than a mantra, you need a mindset. A CEO mindset isn’t about the size of your paycheck or even the size of your dreams, it’s how you handle the day to day. Let’s get real here, how confident are you that you have a CEO mindset?

Here are some CEO mindsets to consider:

The big picture vs. the details. As a CEO, you can’t stick to one or the other, you must be in harmony with both. It’s a balancing act. When you’re at the top, you must see the whole painting clearly without losing sight of the brushstrokes.

Accept that you don’t know it all. If you’re a CEO, you know your stuff, but it’s important to remember you don’t know all the stuff. Once you think you know everything, you have no where to grow which means your business has nowhere to grow.

Making money versus making profit. Making money and making profit, aren’t the same. Knowing your baseline numbers is an absolute necessity. If you don’t know your profit margins or aren’t making your profit margins, you need a money person to partner with.

Delegate when it makes sense for the business, not just when it makes sense for you. Learning to offload and delegate is arguably one of the most important things that CEOs must learn as they grow their business. That said, even when CEOs reach the pinnacle of their success, there are times when you’ve got to roll up your sleeves and wrap your mind around the nuts and bolts. The big picture doesn’t work without the little brushstrokes.

The Importance of Trademarks for Entrepreneurs

Andrei Mincov, Founder and CEO of Trademark Factory started his career in intellectual property because of his father. Even though Andrei had just started law school, he never actually saw himself as a lawyer. But then one day his father (a famous composer) heard his music on the radio. They took a song that Andrei and his father used to sing together in concert and made it into an ad for Samsung without his knowledge or consent. When Andrei’s father called up the radio station to say they couldn’t use his song without his permission or without paying him, they essentially told him to sit down, shut up, and be grateful they were making him more famous.

This was not the right thing to say to Mr. Mincov.

The year was 1996 and Russia had just switched from soviet copyright law to free-market copyright law, and in Russia, you didn’t need to be a licensed attorney to take someone to court. So as a law student, Andrei Mincov took the case all the way to the second highest court in the nation and won.

In doing so, a passion to protect people and the intellectual property that only exists because they created it was born. Andrei Mincov now lives in Vancouver, Canada and is the founder and CEO of Trademark Factory International.

N: Why is Trademarking important?

A: Trademarking is the only way to legally own and protect the brand you are trying to build for your business. Nothing else works. Incorporation doesn’t work. Building an LLC doesn’t work. Getting a domain name doesn’t work. Being in business for 10 years doesn’t work. Those things are useful for your business, but when it comes to you being able to legally stop others from using your brand to compete with you, or even to drive you out of your own brand, the only thing that works is a federally registered trademark. By the time you become big and successful, someone will have trademarked your brand, it may as well be you.

7 Morning Habits for Highly Effective Entrepreneurs

It’s the beginning of 2023 and therefore the perfect time to begin implementing as many good habits as possible! Many of the most successful people in the world share one thing in common, they all have morning routines. Here are some ideas for how to start the day off right and add fuel to the fire of your success!

Rise early at the same time each day. No hitting the snooze button, wake up and stay up! Entrepreneurs are a hardworking bunch and while consistent, quality sleep is essential, so is having waking hours to recuperate your mind and body. Waking up early is the perfect way to carve out those hours!

Avoid your phone. That’s right, AVOID IT. No laying in bed while checking your email or texting while you brush your teeth. The day is a blank canvas and you must start the day by priming it, not half-heartedly drawing in crayon! The morning should be a sacred routine that prepares you to be in optimum efficiency mode. Hold off on screen time until you are IN optimum efficiency mode.

Make your bed. After a long day of crushing it, isn’t it nice to come home to a neat and tidy bed ready for you to relax and unwind? Rest is essential, but so are developing physical habits that contribute to an orderly mind. Studies also show that those who report regularly making their bed in the morning are more likely to get a good night’s sleep!

Eat a quality breakfast. No more power bars or to-go coffees sans food, find a way to get healthy calories in your body when you wake up. Oprah eats a berry-rich breakfast, Barack Obama eats a full breakfast complete with eggs and potatoes, and Reese Witherspoon has had the same green smoothie daily for over a decade. Figure out what is doable for your lifestyle and prioritize a healthy and satisfying kick start!

How to Make Your Website Stand Out From the Competition

When you’re an entrepreneur, you know you need a website. It’s been a long time since websites were optional for businesses, but there are a lot of websites out there. So, how do you make sure that you have a quality website that stands out from the crowd?

CLARITY

People need to know who you are and what you do in as few words as possible. When you’re an entrepreneur, it’s easy to go on and on about what you do, because you’re passionate! But potential clients want copy short, sweet, and CLEAR. Obviously, there are exceptions to this depending on the industry you’re in, but for the most part, your website should limit lengthy paragraphs. Say it with me friends: short, sweet, and CLEAR.

NAVIGATION

There are two kinds of people in the world, scrollers (those who just keep scrolling till they find something they want) and tabbers (those who skip ahead and search for what they need using the tabs and links you provide). You must keep both in mind when writing and designing your website to be sure you’re reaching as many potential clients as possible. You don’t want to lose them just because your site was designed for a different kind of “Googler”. Setting yourself apart can be as easy as providing a great (and simple) user experience.

VIDEO

The rise of video isn’t limited to social media these days. People expect quality video content pretty much everywhere they go. Short form video content is the new king, so budget for quality production and be strategic on where to use video on your site to best get across your message. Studies show that video keeps people on websites 50% longer, so use this to your advantage!

Growth strategies for successful business owners | Ewomen Network

As our businesses expand, we receive a lot of noise, and our days fill up with increasing "busyness" rather than growing our enterprises. We may use the last few days/weeks of any month, season, or year to plan out how we want to show up next in our businesses and in our lives. Our future business growth will be delayed if we do not begin to rid the business of "busyness." We have junk in our email, voicemail, calendar, files, and eventually our bank accounts, just like we have clutter in our closets and on our desks. For the sake of this debate, clutter is defined as anything that causes information overload and hidden recurring drains on our time and money, such as time-sucking distractions, cash withdrawals from bank accounts, or automatic credit card purchases.

My advice is to take tiny, manageable efforts to lessen "busyness."

The Rule of 30 in 3 Schedule 30-minute time blocks on your calendar for checking email and unsubscribing from superfluous newsletters at least three times a week to clean your inbox and quiet your mind. According to studies, having a clear email inbox reduces stress, allows for more creative thinking, and boosts overall productivity. Another rule for this duration is to set your phone and computer notifications to "do not disturb" during this 30-minute period.

Make a list or spreadsheet of all the services, subscriptions and networking groups you use, how much they cost and the renewal dates. Use one of your 30-minute time blocks to assess the impact of each of your businesses and/or your life. Focus on quality versus quantity – declutter your resources and increase your cash balances. This can also become a practice in how to say “NO” to friends and family who may be selling subscription-style services, you know the ones that become those monthly annoyances that you are afraid to stop for fear of offending the salesperson? Yes, those. Chances are they have already forgotten about the sale and won’t notice you’ve stopped the automatic renewals. One client who implemented this tool saved $20,000 in a twelve-month period. You will be surprised at how many little purchases add up to a significant impact on your business. You can make this a game to see how much you can save and perhaps use that money to fund your next vacation or business investment.

Social Distancing Doesn’t Mean Abandoning Your Community

Tips to Stay Connected During COVID-19 by eWN Digital Advantage
The COVID-19 pandemic has forced many entrepreneurs to change their day-to-day routine. One major factor being how they communicate. The days of meeting up at coffee shops or working from co-working spaces are temporarily gone. It’s time to get innovative with communication strategies and turn to the one thing we have access to: technology.

Before we dive into the ways you can stay connected with your team, colleagues, and clients, we want to stress the importance of social distancing. According to a recent analysis of the coronavirus pandemic, a “25 percent reduction in contacts yields more than a 50 percent drop in cases after one month.” It’s all about flattening the curve or slowing the incidence of, especially with the U.S. currently leading in a number of cases.

We’re currently in a time to do some damage control with the implementation of Shelter In Place and Stay At Home laws. Even though we are distancing ourselves it doesn’t mean that communities have to disintegrate as a result of it. Here are ways that you can stay connected:

1. Schedule Online Video Conferencing
2. Be Active on Social Media
3. Join a Facebook Group
4. Attend Virtual Events

If you ask us, social distancing only really exists in the physical realm. Read full blogs...

Embrace the Plateau and Grow Your Business

Success minded business owners are focused on moving upwards all the time, thinking what to do next and how to get there. Sometimes we get so focused on achieving our goal that we make ourselves exhausted, ignoring the signs telling us to hold on for a while. When we reach our goal,  we get so beat down that it hardly seems worth it to make those efforts.

We take plateaus in a negative context, be it business or any other thing in our life. We consider plateaus as if it's something hard we need to pass as soon as possible.

But if we start taking plateaus in a different manner, it's not that horrible, rather it's a part of the business. If you change your mindset, you'll be surprised by the results.

Read the blog "Embrace the Plateau and Grow Your Business" and find out how to climb the plateau!
